A LITTLE BIT OF EUROPE IN SARASOTA

Our Gulf Haven neighbor had some meat on the grill and it smelled…fantastic. He’s from Wisconsin, so we know he must know good sausage when he sees it. “Where’d you buy that meat?” We asked him. “Geier’s. It’s on Tamiami Trail, not too far south of the Stickney Point Bridge,” he cheerily responded. “Great burgers, too. And brioche buns.” Us: ROAD TRIP!

Owner/founder Karl Geier got his Master Sausage Maker Diploma, a.k.a. “Metzgermeister Brief”, under the strict rules of the German Sausage Maker’s Guild, before eventually moving to Sarasota and opening Geier’s Sausage Kitchen.

This charming little shop is not just your place to pick up sausage, but also European specialty goods of all kind — cheese, tinned fish, candy, wine, soaps & lotions — they’ve got it all! And friendly service, too. Gulf Haven grills give Geier’s two big thumbs up.
